UU Santa Fe is ready to offer a tangible way to respond to a member’s short-term caring needs, which may include supplying casseroles to a family in grief, or giving ride to a doctor, or simply acknowledging a change in a member’s life with a card. The Caring Council has been organized to offer these services, and many of you have now signed up to be a part of this exciting new way of caring for our members!
The Caring Council
Caring Ambassador – Rod Morgan
Got a caring need or know of someone who does? Want to join the Council? Call or e-mail Rod. He’ll take it from there.
Casserole Executives – The Executives call their “Shrooms” and tell them to get cooking.
Emergency Food Requests
We’ve had many emergency requests for food lately from those who have lost a loved one or who have just returned home from surgery. We don’t want to wear out our Shroom volunteers. Please know that you do not have to cook! Hidden Chicken, Bumble Bee, other low-cost restaurants, and some grocery stores have great carryout meals. We also plan to start using our neighborhood connection groups to field some of these requests. One of the purposes of the neighborhood groups is to help us get to know each other and care for one another.
Card Specialist – The Card Specialist send cheer or sympathy on our behalf. The Card Specialist contacts the “Plumes” to write cards.
Car Czar – The Car Czar arranges emergency rides. The Czar contacts the “Zooms,” and off they go!
Now you have a better idea of what the Caring Council is all about. All we need now are the members who can use our services! Please let me know if you or someone you know has a caring need and can benefit from a Plume, Shroom, or a Zoom. We’re ready and willing, and excited to be part of this caring community. Help us spread the word, and help us all care for each other!
