The Teachers Handbook will provide the Children and Youth Religious Education volunteers with the information they need for leading the children and youth classes on Sunday mornings. This includes a look at the Sunday morning program, needed forms, locations for supplies, contact information, teaching resources and a calendar for the year.

Building Community is a church school’s most important curriculum. If children don’t feel welcome, safe, comfortable, and a part of the group, they are not going to come to church. Or if they come under parental insistence, they are not going to “be there” in either mind or spirit. Community building doesn’t just happen the first two weeks in September and then we get on to more “important” things. It must be ongoing and part of the planning each and every Sunday we meet.

Most importantly teaching is something to enjoy. Remember, to teach is to learn.
