RE Families –Your Friendly Faces are needed...
To welcome visitors and guests. Both the Membership and Children/Youth Committees need Sunday morning greeters. Families are needed every fourth Sunday at 11:00 at the main door. The RE information table needs staffing every week both at 9:30 and 11:00. Contact Alice at ext.11 or dre@uusantafe.org to join the rotating list of Sunday greeters.
Religious Education for 2011
Junior and senior high youth groups have a varying curriculum. In addition to Sunday morning religious education classes, we offer a Coming of Age Program , as well as Our Whole Lives, a sexuality education program. State and District youth conferences and evening socials are another vital part of our youth program.
It is hoped that there will be at least two regular teachers per class so that they can rotate responsibilities. Safety guidelines require two teachers/assistants in each classroom each week.
Grade 7/8 – Coming of Age is for junior high youth and is facilitated at 11:00 by Mike Owens and Jennifer Pruett with assistance from Kate Dow and the addition of adult mentors once or twice each month. Coming of Age involves exploration of self and community and includes ethics, wonderings about God, faith, life and death. After completion of COA, a celebration is held and many of our youth choose to become members of the congregation.
Grades 9-12 – At 11:00, the senior high Fractals class is comprised of a group of busy high schoolers led by Stacie Powell and Pete Vogel and assisted by Kitty Sherlock. Sunday mornings bring a variety of topics and these youth also assist with sound and video tech for worship services, serve at the Interfaith Shelter, greet on 5th Sundays, and attend conferences.
