You will find here groups that meet for food, fellowship and fun.

affinity Groups

Picture
UU Santa Fe sponsors a variety of Affinity Groups with the purpose of building community and facilitating social connections among our members and friends. Below are those affinity groups whose specific purpose is to enable and enrich connection here and may meet to share a particular identity―such as neighborhood or gender identity―or activity―such as study, reading, crafting or the arts.

“So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they're busy doing things they think are important. This is because they're chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.”―Mitch Albom, Tuesdays with Morrie

Men's Odyssey

Picture
Meets 1st-3rd Tues in the Library
Men’s Odyssey
Meets the first and third Tuesday each month in the UU Santa Fe Library at 7 pm. Led by Rodman Morgan.

Discussion topics vary widely but are usually issues related to men's lives: family relationships, key events in our lives, issues with mothers, sons and fathers, and many unusual topics. Meetings are low key, friendly and engaging. Open to all whether you are male by accident of biology, or a man by identity or expression.

Neighborhood Groups

Picture
UU Santa Fe hosts neighborhood groups that meet periodically for food, fellowship and fun. All in their general proximity are welcome! Our current active groups:
  • El Castillo Residents
  • Eldorado coordinated by Elizabeth Swope. For those living in the I25/Eldorado Corridor, Galisteo, Glorieta, Lamy, Pecos, Rowe area
  • Park Plazas coordinated by Rodman Morgan
  • Rancho Viejo South coordinated by Patty Owens and Beverly Brunson

Various Affinity Groups

  • UU Santa Fe Crafting Circle
Meets weekly on Tuesday, 10 am-12 pm, Committee Room
Now forming. Please join us in coming together to explore our inner artistry and practice our crafts. Contact host Maryann Lane Porter for more information.
  • Shakespeare | Crows Close Reading Group
This is not a performance group, but an informal and fluid group of adults who meet weekly to read aloud and discuss whatever Shakespeare play the Upstart Crows have in production. Many are Crow relatives but not all, and no previous Shakespeare experience is necessary! No matter if you don’t want to read aloud—come along to hear it and join the discussion. If you are interested, email Genevieve Head and let her know: genhead@hotmail.com
  • Sunday Lunch Bunch | Coordinated by Jim Applegate
Meets after our 10:30 am service for lunch at various places. Everyone welcome, especially UU Santa Fe newcomers. Ask at the Welcome Table where the group is gathering!
  • Acoustic Musicians on Barcelona | Led by Dierk Haskin
Meets the fourth Sunday in Fogelson Hall at 6 pm. Make music and have fun! Please come prepared to present two songs. Or just come to listen! We will gather informally in a room where the acoustics are good and share our music (and probably some good conversation, too). We will provide a vocal mic and a guitar mic, and there is also a piano available. Additional sound accommodations may be available upon request. Part of Refresh!
  • Different Drummers | Led by Rick Cormier
Meets the first Sunday in Fogelson Hall at 6:30 pm. Different Drummers Drum Circle (DDDC) of Santa Fe is an open, freestyle community drum circle hosted by Rick Cormier, author of the book, Freestyle Community Drum Circles
  • Art on Barcelona | Led by Virginia Asman
Meets as needed. Help curate and mount UU Santa Fe's monthly community art exhibit in our Foyer
If you don't see a group that you want to join, then start one!
The Beloved Community is not an organization of individuals seeking private and selfish security for their souls. It is a new adventure, a spontaneous fellowship of consecrated people seeking a new world.―Clarence Russell Skinner, The Church of the Beloved Community (Universalist, minister, educator, theologian)
