Becoming | Guiding Questions
“Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.”―Jalaluddin Rumi
At UU Santa Fe, we believe that a life of wholeness contains at its core, elements of reverence, right relationship, service and lifelong learning. To make this balance possible, we offer you four practices:
We may be teaching children, but we are raising people. When our children’s journey with UU Santa Fe is over, if we have done family programming skillfully, children will know they are whole and complete, derived from and integrated into all that is, and worthy and capable of unconditional love. We are here to journey with you and your children as we search for truth, overcome injustice and live a principled life.
Adult Lifelong Learning
"Our liberal tradition has never accepted religious claims to know the only truth or the whole truth. We recognize that there are many perspectives, many beliefs, and many truths to be learned and understood. Therefore, religious education for us is a commitment to a lifelong process of learning."―Rev. Jill McAllister, People’s Church, Kalamazoo, Michigan
All are welcome here.
In the spirit of the Unitarian Universalist principles, we provide a welcoming environment to every adult, youth and child who crosses our threshold. We openly affirm the rich spectrum of individual gender identities. We openly affirm both traditional and non-traditional family structures in all of their variety. We intentionally incorporate curricula resources and class offerings, which emphasize our commitment to diversity and which strengthen us all to stand against prejudice and inequitable privilege in its many forms. Community events and justice making initiatives are an integral part of programs for all ages.
I’d rather learn from one bird how to sing than teach ten thousand stars how not to dance.―e. e. cummings (Edwin Estlin Cummings) (Unitarian, poet, playwright, painter)
