REV. GAIL LINDSAY MARRINER
UU Santa Fe Minister
When I was a Divinity School student in Boston, I used to join the May Day revels on the banks of the Charles River. We gathered at sunrise and danced our way along the river and across the bridge where we met and shook hands with a group of undergraduates in formal wear making their way home after their May Day Ball. The words to one of the carols began “Sommer is a cumin in! Loud sing cuckoo!” The end of the winter and the winding down of the academic year, the coming of summer holidays, a time to celebrate!
May is celebration month around here too. Its every bit as crammed full of observances as December. And summer is a coming in, the weather is glorious and the lilacs are blooming. And we will mix business with pleasure as we plunge into spring cleaning, share flower communion, sing and drum our hearts out on a music Sunday, clean out our closets and raise some money in our annual mega-sale and elect new leaders and vote on a budget at our congregational meeting. The unofficial theme for the month seems to be, “Many Hands Make Light Work, Many Friends Make a Party!” I’ll be in the thick of it and I invite you to come and enjoy every bit of it with me!
Blessings, Rev. Gail
