From Age-ing to Sage-ing: A Revolutionary Approach to Growing Older
Dates 3 Sunday Sessions, October 28 and November 11, 25, 6 pm Location in the UU Santa Fe Library Facilitated by Cindy DuBois Sponsored by Adult Lifelong Learning Team Book From Age-ing to Sage-ing: A Revolutionary Approach to Growing Older by Zalman Schachter-Shalomi Registration not necessary "In this inspiring and informative guide, Reb Zalman shares his wisdom and experience with readers. He shows readers how to create an aging process for themselves that is full of adventure, passion, mystery, and fulfillment, rather than anxiety. Using scientific research―both neurological and psychological―Reb Zalman offers techniques that will expand horizons beyond the narrow view of "the present" into a grand and enduring eternity. By harnessing the power of the spirit, as well as explaining exactly how to become a sage in their own community, he gives readers a helpful and moving way to use their own experiences to nurture, heal, and perhaps even save a younger generation from the prison of how we typically regard aging."―Goodreads You may come to any or all sessions! These four sessions may lead to the creation of an on-going age-ing and sage-ing Wisdom Circle. Part of Refresh! An evening of Potluck • Family Activities • Music • Adult Small Group Discussion • Beginning at 5 pm |
The Tao of Mary OliverWherever I am, the world comes after me. It is very likely that this offering will turn into a group, restart and continue into 2019! |
The Tao of Mary Oliver
Dates One of three Saturday sessions remaining, November 10, 10-11:30 am Location in the UU Santa Fe Library Facilitated by Maj-Britt Eagle Sponsored by Adult Lifelong Learning Team Registration appreciated but not required, click here Some of us already love particular poems of Mary Oliver. Perhaps you too have noticed her way of being with the natural world―which seems to act upon her, rather she upon it. Some might recognize Tao in this, or, "Wu-wei", the art of following the flow, of acting without acting. While there's no text to guide us, bring a selection of Mary Oliver poems you'd like to share, some readings or insights into Taoism, and let's build "the Tao of Mary Oliver" together. If neither is handy, only bring your love for wandering around outside. You may come to any or all sessions! Try these books |

Sabbath: Finding Rest, Renewal and Delight in our Busy Lives
This three-session workshop is designed to explore the book Sabbath by Wayne Muller and spark a discussion of the concepts and practices of creating Sabbath time as a means to enrich our lives. In today’s world, there is an emphasis on productivity, success, overextension, and consumption. In the past, the tradition of Sabbath created an oasis of creating a time of rest and renewal. This workshop will explore ways to create a needed respite whether it be for a day, an hour or Sabbath moments. Let’s explore ways to refresh our bodies and minds, restore our creativity, and regain our birthright of inner happiness. Please join us in what promises to be a fruitful discussion.
