PROGRAM MINISTRY
|
A committed Unitarian Universalist for 30+ years, Steven has served or been affiliated with pastoral, program, large and very-large sized UU congregations. At the September 2018 Board Meeting, the Board of Trustees approved an innovative contract to transition Steven to provide Program Ministry services to UU Santa Fe from July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2022. The broad mandate of these services include leading our family and adult learning programs, facilitating small groups and community life, and supporting our justice teams.
Prior to serving UU Santa Fe, Steven most recently served as Interim Director of Lifespan Religious Education at the First Unitarian Church of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Originally from the Midwest, he now resides within walking distance of the church with his wife Kathleen. Look to Steven to find a non-anxious leader, a quiet soul and a demanding presence. |
Music Director
|
Lydia Madrick came to Santa Fe from the Boston area seventeen years ago with her newly retired husband, Allen, and various dogs, cats and 12 Paso Fino horses. Lydia was raised an Episcopalian but became a UU when her children were ready for real religious education. She substituted for a service at UU Santa Fe fifteen years ago and so impressed was the congregation with her Episcopalian-style hymn playing that they hired her on the spot! (She actually plays other music very well, too) Her duties include providing and overseeing the music performances for the Sunday services. She plays piano for services and accompanies most of the many soloists and groups that perform. The congregation considers music one of the most important elements of the worship experience.
Lydia has degrees from New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Mass. She teaches in her private studio and for Santa Fe Talent Education Suzuki School. She plays chamber music and accompanies singers, Zia Singers, Temple Beth Shalom High Holidays Choir, Highlands University Concert Choir, and she recently retired from the Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. She enjoys reading books, riding her horses, playing the piano, and spending time with her two grandchildren. |
